From Lübben via Beeskow to Erkner, you can cover a clearly defined section of the Spree Cycle Route over two days. The proposed itinerary covers around 145 kilometers and includes one overnight stay in Beeskow. It is suitable for you if you are already used to riding approximately 70 kilometers per day. Flat terrain does not automatically make this distance a short beginner tour.
What you will actually ride this weekend
You start at Lübben station and finish the tour at Erkner station. In between are the Unterspreewald, the Krumme Spree, and the landscape along the Müggelspree. This is neither the entire Spree Cycle Route from its sources nor a loop. The official two-day tour in the Oder-Spree Lake District lists 144 kilometers in the route profile and around 73 and 72 kilometers for the stages. “Around 145 kilometers” is a useful description of these rounded figures; routes to hotels and detours come on top.
| Day | Route | Approximate distance | Day's destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lübben – Schlepzig – Leibsch – Alt Schadow – Kossenblatt – Trebatsch – Beeskow | approx. 73 km | Accommodation in Beeskow; enough time to arrive |
| 2 | Beeskow – Neubrück – Berkenbrück – Fürstenwalde – Hangelsberg – Mönchwinkel – Erkner | approx. 72 km | Erkner station with a buffer for the return journey |
Day 1: From the Unterspreewald to Beeskow
Choose an arrival time in Lübben that leaves you a full day of cycling. A long breakfast break after arriving late by train would unnecessarily delay the day. Via Schlepzig and Leibsch, you reach the area around Lake Neuendorf and Alt Schadow. The Krumme Spree then follows, with its villages and waterways.
Set yourself one main focus for the day. For example, you could plan a longer break along the Krumme Spree and take a brief look around Beeskow in the evening. If you want to visit an additional museum in Trebatsch, check the opening hours and time required in advance. At 73 kilometers, a list with several must-see attractions can quickly become too ambitious.
The ferry to Leißnitz is mentioned as an optional excursion. It is an optional detour, not a necessary connection for the main route to Beeskow described here. Do not plan an unverified ferry crossing as the final part of your journey before reaching the hotel. If you want to use it, check its operating schedule, bicycle transport arrangements, and the additional distance separately.
Day 2: Via Fürstenwalde to the Müggelspree
After spending the night in Beeskow, continue via Neubrück and Berkenbrück to Fürstenwalde. Use the section through the town for a longer break if that suits your energy levels. The route then continues via Hangelsberg and Mönchwinkel toward Erkner. The official Beeskow–Erkner stage is useful for checking the intermediate locations and route details.
Fürstenwalde is also a sensible point to assess how the day is going so far: How much time and energy do you have left, how is the weather developing, and does your return journey still work? If you want to end the ride there, check the appropriate train connection, including bicycle transport. This is a change to the day's plan, not a promise that you can continue at any time without waiting.
For this itinerary, Erkner is the clear destination. Continuing toward Berlin is no longer part of the stated 72 kilometers. On the second day, do not let the nearby outskirts of the city tempt you to add another section if you are already tired.
Surface, pace, and supplies
The region describes this section as mostly flat, well developed, and predominantly paved. “Mostly” is important: You should expect changing surfaces and not plan the entire tour like a consistently smooth road-cycling route. Reduce your speed early at narrow points, bridges, and when passing other people. Headwinds or rain can make even flat kilometers tiring.
Carry water and food for longer sections. A café marked on the map does not guarantee that it will be open when you pass by. Choose one main break and one alternative for each day; several widely separated reservations make your schedule unnecessarily rigid.
With an e-bike, your own experience riding with luggage is more meaningful than a general range figure. Arrange a suitable charging point for the night in Beeskow and bring the appropriate charger. With Cyseekin bikes too, check the model, permitted load, tire dimensions, and the train's transport conditions individually. Two flat stages do not automatically mean you will have spare battery capacity.

Train planning and choosing the right GPX download
The regional tour description lists RE2 or RB24 for Lübben, RB36 for Beeskow, and RE1 or S3 for Erkner. Check these connections for your travel date; routes, construction work, and replacement services can change. When traveling to Lübben, do not confuse it with Lübbenau. The VBB rules on taking bicycles on public transport explain what applies to your bicycle and which tickets you need. A ticket is not a guarantee of an available bicycle space.
The linked regional tour page provides a map and GPX downloads. For this itinerary, you need the one-way route in the Lübben–Erkner direction, not the version with a return leg. After importing it, check both endpoints and Beeskow as the overnight location. Save the map offline and add the short route to your accommodation separately.
Check once more before departure
As of September 3, 2026. Check the latest information from the Oder-Spree Lake District, the tour page, local notices, and traffic updates for your connection. Make sure a notice actually concerns the cycle route: Construction work at a water-tourism site, for example, may affect canoeists without indicating a bicycle closure. A general notice therefore does not replace checking the specific section.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ride just one of the two stages?
Yes. Beeskow has a railway connection and is suitable as an intermediate destination or starting point. Check the train connection and bicycle transport before making your decision.
Do I need to take a ferry on this route?
Not for the main route described here. The ferry to Leißnitz is a separate excursion and changes your plans.
Is this tour suitable if I have no experience with longer daily distances?
In that case, this two-day itinerary is likely to be quite demanding. First try a comparable day ride or choose a shorter section planned separately. Do not force yourself to ride the 145 kilometers just because it is presented as a weekend tour.
